Edit
OK - question #2 - I recently purchased a string of Columnella beads from the Spiro Mounds Complex in Southeast Oklahoma. I sent them to Gregory Perino for Authentification papers and they came back as being authentic. They were purchased from one of the sons of the man that worked for the Pocolo Mining company in the 1930's. The string has a tag on it that says Wampum. While the Spiro people were prolific traders (many copper items were found in the complex that came from Lake Superior region), I do not believe that the beads were actually wampum, even though many of them are very uniform in size. I can show a picture this weekend if needed. Is there a possibility that they are in fact Wampum?
